How to file a freight claim
How to File a Claim on TRACE – Customer Claim
Eaton Cargo Claims can assist you in filing a claim with the carrier. To receive the quickest response from the team, please file a claim through their online TRACE portal . Attached is a step-by-step guide on how to submit a claim through the program. If you do not have access to the non-required information requested, you can leave the field blank and continue with the form. Once you submit a claim, you will receive a TRACE confirmation number that can be used to reference the claim until an Eaton Cargo Claim number has been assigned. If revisions need to be made after a claim has been filed, do not submit an additional claim. Instead, contact Eaton Cargo Claims at eatoncargoclaims@expeditors.com and we will add the changes to the file.
Please attach the following documents to the TRACE claim:
- Commercial invoice – original invoice needed to file claim
- Itemized repair or replacement invoice – all charges must be itemized
- Transportation documentation (proof of delivery (POD) – preferably noted, bill of lading, packing list)
- Photos of the damaged item and external packaging

For cross referencing of competitor items, please complete the cells highlighted in yellow on the spreadsheet at the link below.
Then save and email the completed sheet to ComponentCrossReferenceTRC@eaton.com . You should receive the results from your request within 2 weeks. Large request may take longer. All competitor part numbers will be cross-referenced to the best of the TRC’s ability. Cross requests will be processed in the order they are received.
